Keyhole surgical approach that treats gynecologic conditions through small incisions for faster recovery.
Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive or keyhole surgery, uses a thin lighted camera (laparoscope) and specialized instruments inserted through small incisions. For selected gynecologic and gynecologic-oncology cases, it offers an alternative to traditional open surgery with reduced trauma to surrounding tissue.
To diagnose and treat gynecologic conditions and selected early-stage cancers through small incisions, minimizing surgical trauma where oncologic safety allows.
Small incisions are made in the abdomen for the camera and instruments
The abdomen is gently inflated with gas to create operating space
The procedure is performed under magnified, high-definition visualization
Tissue is removed and incisions are closed with minimal suturing
